A Russian push into Ukraine’s Sumy region has reportedly turned into a devastating battlefield failure.

According to pro-Ukraine battlefield reports, an elite Russian combat formation crossed into the Sumy area with the goal of opening a new pressure point, forcing Kyiv to divert reserves, and stretching Ukrainian defenses along the northern border.

But within just 48 hours, the operation reportedly collapsed.

Ukrainian forces are said to have used drones, artillery, reconnaissance units, and precision strikes to isolate the advancing troops, cut their movement routes, and destroy vehicles, command elements, and ᴀssault groups before they could regroup.

Independent confirmation of the full scale of losses remains limited, but Reuters has reported continued Russian shelling and drone activity in Sumy, while open-source battlefield trackers have described the region as an active and contested front.
