PRISON MURDER OF KYLE BEVAN AT HMP WAKEFIELD RESULTS IN WHOLE-LIFE SENTENCES FOR THREE INMATES

A prison murder at HMP Wakefield has resulted in three inmates receiving whole-life sentences after being convicted of killing fellow prisoner Kyle Bevan.
Bevan, who had been serving a life sentence for the murder of his two-year-old stepdaughter Lola James, was killed inside his cell in November 2025. Prosecutors told the court that the attack was planned in advance and carried out by three inmates who entered his cell together.
According to court proceedings, the ᴀssault involved multiple stab wounds inflicted with improvised weapons. Investigators said the attack was carried out quickly and that the perpetrators left the cell shortly afterward.
It was also reported that Bevan’s body was positioned in his bed after the attack, and his death was only discovered during routine checks by prison staff the following morning.

In June 2026, Mark Fellows, Lee Newell, and David Taylor were sentenced to whole-life orders for their roles in the killing, meaning they will not be eligible for release.
The case has raised further questions about safety and security within high-security prisons, particularly regarding the management of inmates considered to pose extreme risks.
Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident as part of standard prison oversight procedures.
