Pope Leo XIV on Pentecost: “The Paraclete Enlightens Minds and Protects Us!lh

During a powerful Pentecost reflection at the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV described the Holy Spirit as “the divine light that enlightens minds and protects hearts from fear and confusion.” Addressing thousands gathered in St. Peter’s Square, the Pope emphasized that the Paraclete continues to guide believers through an age marked by conflict, anxiety, and spiritual uncertainty.

Recalling the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, he said Pentecost is not only a historical event but “a living force within the Church.” According to Pope Leo, the Spirit gives courage to speak truth, wisdom to discern good from evil, and unity among people divided by hatred and war.

“The Paraclete does not abandon humanity in darkness,” the Pontiff declared. “He opens minds to truth and leads souls toward peace.” His message resonated strongly as Christians worldwide face rising tensions, persecution, and social instability.

The Pope concluded by urging the faithful to pray for a renewed outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon families, leaders, and nations, so that “the fire of Pentecost may heal fear, inspire hope, and protect humanity from despair.”
