New Details Emerge as Accused Mother Faces Homicide Charges in Great Wolf Lodge Deaths

Fresh court documents and investigative updates have provided a clearer picture of the events surrounding the deaths of a Pennsylvania man and his young son at a popular resort, along with statements from family members about the accused woman’s atтιтude toward motherhood and family life.
On October 12, 2026, Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, of Towanda, called emergency services from a guest room at the Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, Pocono Township. She told the dispatcher that her husband and 3-year-old son were already gone and that she needed help ending her own life, saying she was too weak to complete the act herself. When officers arrived, they found Charles “Chaz” Harrison, 36, and the couple’s son (identified in records as T.H. and named by relatives as Tristan) ᴅᴇᴀᴅ from stab wounds to the chest. Charles had multiple wounds; the child had a single wound. Harrison herself had injuries to her wrist and neck and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to a police affidavit, Harrison told responding officers she was “suicidal, not stupid” and declined to answer further questions. While being treated by emergency medical staff, she made several statements, including remarks that she worked hard every day to be the best person, mother, and wife. She also said the situation was not supposed to end this way and that she had long envisioned having a happy family.
Harrison was later released from medical care, arraigned on two counts of criminal homicide, and ordered held without bail at the Monroe County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 21, 2026. No attorney had been listed for her in court records as of mid-October.

In interviews conducted the night of the incident, Charles Harrison’s mother and sister described Metallica as dominant and controlling. They told investigators she had isolated Charles and their son from the wider Harrison family for the previous three years. Relatives further stated that she had expressed resentment toward the child and said she never wanted to become pregnant, complaining that the boy took away one-on-one time with her husband.
The family had checked into the Great Wolf Lodge on September 21 and later extended their stay, with a scheduled checkout of October 13. Surveillance footage showed the couple using the resort’s arcade the evening before the deaths. Investigators searched the family’s home in Towanda in the days that followed, recovering items that included teal-handled knives (confirmed by resort staff not to be property of the Lodge), sealed envelopes, and other materials as they worked to understand the circumstances.

Authorities have described the case as an isolated domestic tragedy with no ongoing threat to the public. A GoFundMe organized by Charles Harrison’s sister to cover funeral expenses for him and his son had raised several thousand dollars within days. Great Wolf Lodge stated it was cooperating fully with law enforcement and expressed sadness over the incident.
As of October 15–16, 2026, the investigation remains active. Police continue to examine evidence for a possible motive, while the legal process moves forward toward the scheduled preliminary hearing.
