Leisnier Mauri Garcia, 40, was charged with attempted felony murder with a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly weapon on Thursday, June 25, following a domestic violence incident, according to Miami-Dade County jail records seen by PEOPLE.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred on Sunday, June 21, involving Garcia and his girlfriend of approximately six months, according to Local 10, WSVN and the Miami Herald.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by local news outlets, Garcia and his girlfriend — who was not identified — rented an Airbnb near the beach and planned to go to dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Garcia’s girlfriend then received a text message from the father of her child, which the 40-year-old saw, causing an argument between the pair that ultimately led to her telling Garcia that she wanted to break up, the arrest affidavit said, per the outlets.
