Social media is buzzing after sensational posts claimed researchers discovered the first fully preserved Megalodon fossil deep in the ocean — with some viral stories even saying the discovery “shocked NASA.”

However, there is currently no verified scientific evidence confirming such a discovery or any involvement from NASA in a Megalodon fossil announcement. Scientists have discovered many Megalodon teeth and fossil remains over the years, but dramatic viral claims online are often exaggerated, misleading, or entirely fictional.
