Florida Mother Faces Child Neglect Charges After Allegedly Leaving Four Young Children Alone for Bahamas Cruise

A Miami-Dade judge expressed open disbelief this week after a 29-year-old mother appeared in court accused of leaving her four young children, including a two-month-old infant, unsupervised for three days while she took a cruise to the Bahamas.
Nathalie Belizaire of North Miami Beach was charged with four counts of child neglect following her arrest on September 28, 2026. Authorities say she boarded Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Conquest on September 25 for a three-night trip, leaving the children alone in their residence. The group included a baby born in July 2026 and a two-year-old toddler; the ages of the other two children have not been publicly detailed.
The situation came to light the day after the ship sailed. Lether Bazile, the father of the infant, went to the apartment after Belizaire had told him she planned to leave the children with their great-grandmother. Instead, he heard children’s voices inside and saw a television on through the blinds. He contacted police. Officers forced entry and found the four children hiding in the bathroom with no adult present.

The great-grandmother later told investigators that Belizaire had indicated she would drop the children off but never arrived. Belizaire’s brother also reported receiving a text message from her on the same day asking him to check on the children. Multiple attempts by police to reach Belizaire while she was at sea were unsuccessful.
When the Carnival Conquest returned to PortMiami on September 28, authorities were waiting. Belizaire was taken into custody as she disembarked and declined to speak with officers. She was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on the four felony counts.
During her bond hearing the following day, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer reacted strongly to the allegations. “Who leaves four little kids alone to go on a cruise?” the judge asked. “The poor kids were home alone!” When Belizaire’s attorney described the claims as “only an allegation” that his client denies, Glazer responded: “They arrested her disembarking from the cruise ship! You cannot make this up! We are just grateful nothing worse happened to those kids.” The judge also highlighted the age of the youngest child, noting the baby had been born only two months earlier.

Glazer read a North Miami Beach police officerâs report on the arrest of Nathalie Belizaire, a mother of four, and said, âYou cannot make this up!â
While Belizaire was on the Carnival Conquest, a cruise ship voyage from Miami to the Bahamas, her 2-month-old daughter was home with her three minor siblings, according to police.
âThe p
Bond was set and Belizaire was ordered to have no contact with the children, either directly or indirectly. She was released from custody on the evening of September 29.
Court records show this was not Belizaire’s first involvement with law enforcement. In January 2025 she was charged with aggravated battery after allegedly pepper-spraying a neighbor she believed was harᴀssing her daughter.
The case continues to move through the court system, with further proceedings expected. Investigators and child-welfare authorities remain focused on the well-being of the four children who were left without adult supervision for the duration of the cruise.
