Community Mourns Three Young Brothers Lost in North Carolina Crash

💔🕊️ A North Carolina community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of three young brothers who died in a crash in Cumberland County in early June 2026.
The children, identified as Jae’ Coda Thomas, 3, Ju’ Mari Thomas, 6, and Jack Thomas IV, 8, were traveling with their mother, Megan Scott, on Cedar Creek Road shortly before 10:50 p.m. when the collision occurred.

According to preliminary findings from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, data recovered from the vehicle indicates it may have been traveling at a very high rate of speed before the driver lost control. Investigators say the vehicle crossed the center line, overcorrected, left the roadway, and struck a tree.
Two of the children died at the scene, while the third was airlifted to UNC Medical Center and later died from his injuries.
Authorities also stated that the children were not restrained in car seats or seat belts at the time of the crash, and all three were ejected from the vehicle, contributing to the severity of their injuries.
Investigators continue to examine all factors involved, including speed, road conditions, and events that occurred earlier that evening. Officials have urged the public to wait for the full findings before drawing conclusions.

In the days since the tragedy, community members have gathered to honor the brothers’ lives by leaving flowers, toys, and messages of support at the crash site. Schools, churches, and neighbors throughout the area have also offered condolences and support to the grieving family.
As the investigation continues, many are choosing to remember the three boys not for the circumstances of their deaths, but for the young lives they lived and the love they shared with those around them.
💔🕊️ Three brothers, gone far too soon, and a community forever changed by their loss.
