Born at just 24 weeks and weighing only 1 pound, 8 ounces, baby Colsen is finally going home after spending more than 400 days in the NICU. 💙

When Savannah Jones gave birth to her son, Colsen, in March 2025, doctors expected he would spend at least three months in the neonatal intensive care unit. Instead, his journey became much longer—and far more challenging than anyone imagined.

Born weighing just 1 pound, 8 ounces, Colsen spent more than 400 days in the NICU, overcoming countless obstacles along the way. He endured surgeries, breathing support, and countless medical procedures, yet his mother says one thing never changed—his smile.

“Since he was old enough to smile, he’s been smiling,” Savannah shared, describing her son as a little fighter who brought hope to everyone around him.

During Colsen’s lengthy hospital stay, life brought another unexpected blessing. Savannah and her husband welcomed a second son, Everen, who was born full-term and healthy. While his little brother was able to go straight home, Colsen continued his fight from the hospital, growing stronger every day.

Now weighing nearly 21 pounds, Colsen has reached an incredible milestone. His breathing tube has long been removed, and doctors say he is finally ready to leave the hospital and join his family at home.

To avoid getting their hopes up too soon, the family came up with a special phrase instead of saying “going home.” They simply called it “a trip to the zoo.” The private joke became a symbol of hope during the long months of waiting and even inspired the name of a fundraiser supporting Colsen’s transition home.

Soon, that long-awaited “trip to the zoo” will finally become reality.

For the first time, Savannah and her husband will have both of their sons together under one roof—a moment that once felt almost impossible.

After more than a year of courage, setbacks, and perseverance, Colsen’s greatest adventure is no longer inside a hospital. It’s finally beginning at home with his family. ❤️
