BABY BRIAN JR., BORN WITH HYPOPLASTIC LEFT HEART SYNDROME, IS FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE AT JUST 5 MONTHS OLD

Before Brian Jr. was even born, his parents, Rhiannon and Brian, learned that their son had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a serious congenital heart condition in which the left side of the heart is underdeveloped.

They chose to give their little boy every chance they could.

Brian underwent a heart procedure on the day he was born, followed by his first open-heart surgery just two days later. His family says he later required another major heart operation.

Then, at around 11:30 p.m. Monday, everything changed.

According to his family, the five-month-old went into cardiac arrest after a blood clot blocked blood flow to the side of his heart supporting his body. Doctors performed CPR for approximately two hours before placing him on ECMO, a form of advanced life support that can temporarily support heart and lung function.

His family says doctors were also able to remove the clot. Now, they are waiting to see how much Brian’s heart can recover.

His grandmother, JoAnna, described him as “one of the strongest boys” she knows.

Please keep Baby Brian Jr. in your thoughts and prayers, along with his parents, Rhiannon and Brian, and the doctors and nurses caring for him.

The family is now hoping their tiny fighter will continue growing stronger.
