A Night That Changed Everything: Remembering Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom

On January 6, 2007, 21-year-old Channon Christian and 23-year-old Christopher Newsom left home expecting nothing more than an ordinary evening together. They planned to have dinner, spend time with friends, and enjoy each other’s company.
When they failed to arrive as expected, concern quickly turned into panic. Calls went unanswered, and by the following day, their families knew something was terribly wrong.
What began as a missing persons investigation soon became one of the most widely known criminal cases in Tennessee. Investigators determined that the young couple had been abducted and killed, leading to a lengthy investigation and multiple arrests.

The case drew national attention and resulted in years of court proceedings. Ultimately, several individuals were convicted and received lengthy prison sentences.
Yet for those who loved Channon and Christopher, the story has always been about more than the legal outcome. Family and friends remember them for who they were: a dedicated student, a hardworking carpenter, a loving daughter, a devoted son, and two young people excited about their future.
Nearly two decades later, their memory continues to live on through the people who knew them best. Their names remain a symbol not only of a tragic loss, but of lives that mattered, dreams that were never fulfilled, and families who continue to honor them every day.
Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom are remembered not for the crime that took them, but for the lives they lived and the love they shared.
