REVEREND RICHARD COLES
Dean McCullough’s mum has spoken out on his numerous Bushtucker Trials after he called I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here for the second time on Thursday’s show.
The Radio 1 host, 32, has consistently been chosen by the public over the past few days to do the challenges and Ant McPartlin couldn’t hide his frustration after he quit once again – this time after being deluged in fish guts.
After he was picked again to take part in Friday’s trial alongside campmate Danny Jones, Dean’s mum Ann, 55, has given an insight into how he must be feeling and if his fear is genuine or an act to get more airtime.
‘The trials have been tough and he’ll be beating himself up over it. He just needs to remember to do his best and have fun. I’m so proud of him. He is so loved and we are all cheering him on,’ she told The Mirror.
Viewers noticed on Thursday’s show, Ant was ‘lowkey mad’ at Dean for ‘not trying properly’ in his first two trials and so urged the radio host to ‘try harder’.
Later on spinoff show Unpakced, the host admitted: ‘My annoyance came across on screen and I was quite unprofessional. You get to the point where you’re like what are you doing?’
As Dean arrived at his third trial in three days, Ant and Dec ran through the rules of ‘Lethal Lab’, adding he will be joined by cockroaches, crickets and mealworms, giant lizards, snakes and spiders.

The Radio 1 DJ, 32, has consistently been chosen by the public over the past few days to do the challenges and Ant McPartlin couldn’t hide his frustration after he quit once again
During the stern chat, Dean said to Ant: ‘Are you telling me off?’
Viewers wrote on X: ‘Ant is like the head master telling Dean off #ImACeleb’,
‘Ant being lowkey mad at Dean is too funny #ImACeleb’, ‘Ant deffo hates Dean’, ‘ant is not holding back with dean’.
But Ann thinks despite his failure to bring home stars for camp, she thinks her son has what it takes to win the compeтιтion.
She said: ‘Dean definitely has got what it takes to be king – and queen – of the jungle.’
Ann added of the advice she gave him before entering the jungle: ‘As his mother I gave him special things to remember – how much he is loved, to remember where he’s from, to be himself, no cursing and to do his best and have fun. And to do a Myleene Klᴀss in the shower. Words can’t describe how proud I am.’
It comes after viewers slammed Dean after the radio DJ failed to win any stars during his trial with GK Barry on Wednesday evening.
The duo took part in the Down In The Dumps trial as they were forced to face their fears while working together to secure meals for camp.
However the pair failed to win any stars, and Ant didn’t hold back as he vented his frustrations during the show’s spin off I’m A Celebrity Unpacked.

Defending him, Ann said: ”The trials have been tough and he’ll be beating himself up over it. He just needs to remember to do his best and have fun. I’m so proud of him’
Dean and GK were left shaking and in tears after Wednesday’s trial and came back to camp empty handed

Joel Dommett said: ‘Let’s talk briefly about today’s trial,’ before Ant interjected with: ‘Oh god.’
Letting his feelings be known he explained: ‘I got quite annoyed at one point because I am a bit like if you can’t do it you can’t do it, but just get on with it. Just try it, try it.
‘If it is physically impossible or you find it physically hard that’s fine but at least try. There was a lot of not trying for quite a few minutes until they started to try and then they ran out of time.’
Meanwhile the host also admitted to MailOnline: ‘A lot of people appear frustrated at Dean, well as frustrated as I was but I felt I held it together pretty well. We miss Tony Bellew, he would have smashed that trial.’
I’m A Celebrity continues on Friday at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
