Wicked fans have been left outraged after a major spoiler was unveiled on social media ahead of the musical adaptation’s release on Friday.
An X user uploaded a pH๏τo that contained a surprising revelation – and some fans jumped to the comments to share their thoughts.
The first part of the epic fantasy film will officially premiere in theaters on November 22 – with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo taking on the leading roles of Glinda and Elphaba respectively.
Jon M. Chu directed the highly-anticipated adaptation, which also stars Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater and Michelle Yeoh.
Fans were also recently left furious after cinemas issued a ban on moviegoers singing along to the music during film screenings in the U.S.
And taking to X on Thursday, others encouraged one user to ‘delete’ a post containing a spoiler before the movie has even hit theaters.

‘Guys it doesn’t really count as a spoiler as you can literally see their names on music streaming apps and they are also listed on the IMDB, I would have loved it to stay a surprise personally but this was inevitable going to happen,’ a fan shared.
One penned, ‘Why would you spoil this before the movies even been out a day?!’ while another defended, ‘I mean it was kinda leaked ages ago lol.’

An American theater chain, AMC, has doubled down on its famous trademark: ‘silence is golden.’
A voiceover during a spot could be heard saying, ‘At AMC Theaters, silence is golden. No talking. No texting. No singing. No wailing. No Flirting. And absolutely no name-calling. Enjoy the magic of movies,’ per The Independent.
Ryan Noonan, a spokesperson for AMC, told The Indianapolis Star earlier this week that the theater ‘has a long-standing policy that prohibits disruptive behavior.’
In regards to the spot, Noonan added that it ‘incorporates the themes of the film as a fun, engaging reminder to moviegoers to not disrupt the experience for those around them as they enjoy the show.’
Some fans took to social media to share their reaction to the ban, with one typing out, ‘I paid for my ticket…If I want to sing, I will sing.’
Another wrote, ‘I’m singing quietly to myself and no one can stop me…It’s not like they could hear me over the movie,’ while one added, ‘Oh, the f***ing FUN POLICE.’
However, others came to the defense of the ban, with one sharing, ‘I don’t get people who want to hear themselves over the performances.’
‘This goes for concerts too. I’ve never understood it! And I’m a singer! If I want to sing I do it on stage or in my car.’

Press for Wicked has been in full swing – and on Tuesday evening, cast members Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Jeff Goldblum made a surprise appearance at a screening in London.
As the audience in the theater broke into cheers and applause, Erivo expressed, ‘Thank you for being here tonight we hope you enjoy this movie that we made.’
‘A lot of love went into this, a lot of tears and laughter and all of that good stuff. We are very proud to presenting this to you today.’
While the film is set to release on Friday, the second part of the adaptation is slated to premiere in theaters the following year in November 2025.
During a recent interview with Forbes earlier this month, director Jon M. Chu recalled working on set and bringing the movie to life with the cast and crew.
‘Me, Ari and Cynthia very frequently would grab each other’s hands like – “Look at everybody! They’re all working and that’s the yellow brick road. We are on the yellow brick road and you’re in witch outfits. This is insane!”‘

‘Just seeing the yellow brick road and being on-set with it, it evokes a lot of emotions in you as a film lover.’
He further added, ‘And the scale of it, walking into Emerald City and having hundreds and hundreds of dancers.’
‘Seeing a giant head of the wizard talking in real time and we built that thing – having a train roll in, a 60-ton train that they can get in and get off.’
‘And you have smoke and it feels like an old classic Hollywood [movie]. I mean, this is Ben-Hur, this is Lawrence Of Arabia…’
