Louis Tomlinson has donated a personally meaningful fabric to community football club Grenfell Athletic’s ‘Fabric of the Community’ project.

The kit features cuts of fabric from donated items of clothing that survived the Grenfell fire. Members of the community and survivors of the tragedy have donated clothing items with special personal meanings.

The emotionally charged football shirt drops on Thursday and features a perimeter area surrounding the club emblem reserved for a bespoke cut of fabric cut from donated items of clothing, including fabrics that survived the Grenfell fire.

In honour of everyone that lost their homes as a result of the devastating fire in June 2017, Louis, 32, has donated his beloved Doncaster Rovers FC shirt.

He said: ‘Wherever I am in the world and I have my Doncaster Rovers FC shirt with me, it reminds me of home. 

‘When I am touring and I see a member of the audience wearing one, I get a real feeling of home, no matter where I am.’

The news of Liam’s heartwarming donation comes just hours after he attended the funeral of his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne (pictured together in 2015) 

Professional football star Héctor Bellerín, meanwhile, has donated a match-worn shirt from his time at fellow London club and Premier League giants Arsenal, continuing his support for Grenfell having previously pledged over £19,000 to support victims in the aftermath of the fire. 

Rupert Taylor, founder of Grenfell Athletic, said: ‘Our club was born out of a desire to heal and bring our community ever closer through the power of football.

‘We’re so thankful for every person who donated their fabrics and bravely shared their stories, and we hope the project offers an additional avenue for healing and a platform for showing how inspirational our community truly is. 

‘The hearts and souls of the people of Grenfell are woven into Grenfell Athletic’s DNA, and now they’ll be woven into the club’s shirts, too.’

The news of Liam’s heartwarming donation comes just hours after he attended the funeral of his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne. 

The singer attended Liam’s funeral at St Mary’s Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire on Wednesday where he was reunited with Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik.

It was the first time the group were seen in public together in nine years as they paid respects to their ‘brother’ Liam, who he fell from a H๏τel balcony in Argentina last month.

The four singers arrived separately at the church as they joined friends and family of the 31-year-old in a poignant final send off.

Girls Aloud member Cheryl Tweedy, who is the mother of Payne’s seven-year-old son Bear, was also in attendance along with his girlfriend Kate Cᴀssidy, 25, and One Direction creator Simon Cowell.

Former One Direction star Zayn Malik was also present at Liam’s funeral 

US influencer Ms Cᴀssidy arrived alongside Damian Hurley, the son of model Elizabeth Hurley.

Girls Aloud singers Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, who wore long black coats and sunglᴀsses, supported their bandmate Cheryl.

Niall and his girlfriend Amelia Woolley were dropped off by a black Range Rover and went straight into the church, while Harry Styles was accompanied by Corden.

Capital radio DJs Chris Stark, Jordan North and Sian Welby all paid tribute, as well as new BBC Radio 2 breakfast host Scott Mills.

JLS star and TV presenter Marvin Humes, who met Payne when he first auditioned for The X Factor in 2008, attended alongside his wife, The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes.

Former professional footballer Robbie Keane and broadcaster Adrian Chiles were also amongst the mourners gathering to pay their last respects to Payne.
