Showbiz worlds are set to collide as Britain’s daytime talk show star Rylan Clark has bagged a landmark BBC show with multi-award winning singer Mariah Carey.

In a world exclusive for BBC Two, Rylan will sit down with the Queen of Christmas for an in-depth interview as her festive hit All I Want For Christmas Is You celebrates its 30th anniversary.

British Mariah fans will be delighted see Rylan put the American’s English accent to the test and pretend to audition her to be in BBC’s EastEnders during the show, aptly named Mariah Meets Rylan.

The Obsessed singer will divulge details on how she came up with the melody for her smash hit Hero, the jobs she had before fame and her love for Top of the Pops.

Mariah, 55, will speak about the stars who have inspired her work throughout the years, including Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and George Michael.

She will also talk about the times she worked with Jackie Chan and Westlife and reflect on the 30th anniversary of All I Want For Christmas Is You – which re-entered the UK Top 40 last week.

It comes as Mariah’s festive hit All I Want For Christmas Is You celebrates its 30th anniversary this year

BBC Two will be celebrating Mariah with an evening of programming that night, including a newly-extended edition of Mariah Carey at the BBC.  

Ahead of the show’s release, Rylan said: ‘All my Christmases came at once this year when I got to sit down and interview none other than the Queen of Christmas! 

‘They say don’t meet your heroes, but Mariah was everything and more. I can’t wait for you all to see it.’

It follows the success of Cher Meets Rylan in December 2023 and Idris Elba Meets Paul McCartney in December 2020.

It comes after reports that Mariah will be questioned about claims her estranged brother sold drugs, just a few weeks after losing their mother and sister on the same day.

It’s been reported that lawyers will quiz the singer, 55, after she wrote in her memoir about her brother Morgan allegedly selling drugs.

It is said she will be filmed while giving her deposition on January 17 at Morgan’s lawyers’ office, according to court papers.

The 64-year-old filed a lawsuit against her in 2021, accusing her of defamation in The Meaning of Mariah Carey, in which she refers to him as her ‘ex brother’.

A judge ordered the siblings to sit for depositions in his lawsuit before January 31, 2025. The order was filed on August 27, three days after their mother Patricia, 87, and sister Alison, 63, died.
