Diaz and Foxx looked incredible as they transformed into spies
The Any Given Sunday co-stars resumed filming of this movie on January 21.
In December 2023, Foxx opened up about his near-death experience for his first public appearance since his shock health scare at the Critics Choice ᴀssociation’s event.
Foxx admitted that he could not ‘walk’ six months earlier, via ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, though he refrained from revealing too many details about the medical crisis that put him in the hospital.
‘You know, it’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago,’ he said after strutting across the stage to the microphone. ‘I couldn’t actually walk.’
‘I want to thanks everybody. I’ve been through something, I’ve been through some things,’ he said to thunderous applause.
The actor was visibly moved as he accepted the Vanguard Award at the ᴀssociation’s Celebration of Cinema & Television: Honoring Black, Latino and AAPI Achievements in Los Angeles.
‘I cherish every single minute now — it’s different,’ he continued. ‘I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over … when you see the tunnel. I saw the tunnel — I didn’t see the light.

‘It was H๏τ in that tunnel too, I don’t know where I was going. ‘S**t, am I going to the right place?’”
In his 12-minute speech, he also made light of some of the baseless conspiracy theories that spread while he was hospitalized and then out of the public eye for several months.
Diaz also spoke out about all the rumors swirling around Foxx’s medical emergency on Molly Sims’ Lipstick on the Rim podcast.
She said she ‘really hate[s] all of the things that were being said about our set at the time.
Foxx and Diaz also star with Glenn Close in the film
Close gets into the action spirit with her feisty role
‘You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, “What are you talking about?” Jamie is, like, the cheerleader for the entire crew. Everybody loves him. We have so much fun on the set with him, and he’s just a professional on every level,’ she said.
Back in Action also stars Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts and Rylan Jackson.
Diaz retired from acting in 2014 after revealing the long hours of shooting made it too hard for her to balance family life. And while she’s made a return for Back in Action, she also plans to retire again after this film.
She shares two children – Raddix, four, and Cardinal, seven months with husband Benji Madden, 45.
