Selena Gomez joins Emilia Perez co-stars Zoe Saldana and Karla Sofia Gascon on top magazine cover

Selena Gomez has joined her Emilia Perez co-stars Zoe Saldana and Karla Sofía Gascon on the new cover of a top magazine.

The Spanish-language musical comedy is led by Karla, playing a cartel leader who pretends to die in order to undergo a gender transition into a woman.

Emilia Perez premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to a burst of acclaim, including a joint best actress prize for Sofia, Zoe, Karla and their castmate Adriana Paz.

After a limited theater release in the US and Canada in November 1, the movie bowed on Netflix this Wednesday to a warm response from the critics.

Now its three top actresses have reunited in style on one of the new covers of this year’s Elle Women In Hollywood Issue.

Inside the magazine, Selena gushed about the ‘sisterhood’ she shares with Zoe and Karla, which ‘ended up becoming what got us through’ the moviemaking process.

On the cover, Selena was decked out in a McQueen by Sean McGirr blouse and jacket and Falke hose while Zoe and Karla were both pictured in Ralph Lauren.

Selena confessed in their joint interview that the Emilia Perez script ‘was one of those things that you read and thought, how on earth could this be made? It’s too crazy. It could be done in a bad way, but it was so exciting at the same time.’

Zoe meanwhile was candid about what a change it was for her to act in a project that featured her as one of three female leads.

‘I remember when I was very young, being the only female in a whole cast felt empowering. But after you do one too many of those projects, it’s a lonely place to be the only woman,’ the Avatar actress shared.

She also expressed her admiration for Selena, saying: ‘I would look at Selena and just hear her talk and watch her command a room with so much humility. There’s an ageless essence to her that makes me always feel like I’ll accept any advice or guidance that comes from this young woman who’s such a boss lady.’

Karla, who hails from Spain admitted that working with two top-flight American celebrities ‘was a little complicated for me, at first. I really had to shed that fandom that anyone would have when working with two Hollywood stars.’

She acknowledged: ‘It took some effort for me. And I think sometimes it could have put our relationship at risk, but I wanted to make sure that they felt like family, that there was nothing that was going to interfere with our work.’

Selena showered Karla with praise, saying that ‘I’ve never been more challenged artistically. She has this strength about her in her performance and her dedication. It would just blow me away and I would feel a little intimidated.’

She added: ‘Zoe would come to work every day so grateful that she was there. We could bond over that. I’m very lucky that these women came into my life and that hopefully they will be in my life forever.’

Elsewhere in the interview, Selena also gushed over Meryl Streep, who recently appeared on the pop star’s hit Hulu sitcom Only Murders In The Building.

‘I remember being on set with Meryl Streep, trying to shoot her side so that she could go home and have the next day off,’ the songstress recalled.

‘Toward the end of the day, she said: “Wait, no, why aren’t we turning around?” And they said: “Oh, we’ll do that tomorrow.” And she goes” “No, no, I must come in, I should be here for them.”’

The Come And Get It singer raved: ‘It was so classy and showed that she really still loved the craft and that she wanted to be there for us too. I’ll never forget her being barefoot, singing on set, just loving what she’s doing. I want that spirit, I want to always love what I do and be there for people.’

Selena’s latest interview was published H๏τ of the heels of a raging internet controversy over her longtime boyfriend Benny Blanco.

Social media flew into a tailspin of shock when Benny featured inside People magazine’s famous Sєxiest Man Alive Issue this year.

Although the cover star The Office heartthrob John Krasinski, the fact Benny was included at all was sharply polarizing on account of his looks.

He drew praise in some quarters for ‘redefining “Sєxy” with that humor and style,’ while others reacted with bewilderment.

‘Selena paid for this,’ joked one observer on X, formerly Twitter, while another wrote: ‘Benny blanco and Sєxiest man alive should never be in the same sentence,’ and a third quipped: ‘Did they throw a dart blindfolded to pick?’
