Teddi Mellencamp looked forlorn while saying goodbye to estranged husband Edwin Arroyave after news broke of her affair with her horse trainer, Simon Schroeder.

During the intimate moment outside of their family home in Los Angeles on Wednesday, November 13, Mellencamp, 43, stood with her eyes downcast and her hand on a large suitcase as Arroyave, 47, hugged her and kissed her head in pH๏τos obtained by TMZ.

The former couple wore serious expressions during the exchange. Mellencamp, who was dressed in brown sweatpants and a matching sweatshirt, appeared to be leaving the residence for an extended period of time given her bags.

The somber farewell comes after Us Weekly confirmed Mellencamp’s affair with Schroeder on Wednesday. The Daily Mail was the first to report on the story.

“Simon and Teddi had a thing several months ago but it’s not still happening,” a source exclusively told Us, noting that Mellencamp and Arroyave were both unfaithful to one another during their marriage.”Teddi isn’t excusing her behavior but this was the first and only time she strayed outside of the marriage and says there’s two sides to the story. They are both to blame.”

The insider added that Mellencamp and Arroyave, who tied the knot in 2011, had previously “stayed in the marriage for the sake of the kids.” The exes share son Cruz, 10, and daughters Slate, 12, and Dove, 4.

Mellencamp announced her plans to file for divorce in November.

“After a great deal of care and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum wrote via Instagram at the time. “My priority is my children and ensuring that every care is taken with their privacy and wellbeing throughout this new chapter.”

While the revelations about Mellencamp’s affair are new, the exes’ marital problems are not.

“It was a long time coming and they have been up and down for the last seven-plus years,” a second source told Us earlier this month. “This isn’t the first time Teddi has wanted a divorce, and it has been an ongoing conversation between them for years.”

Mellencamp previously said during a March 2023 episode of her “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast that she was contemplating divorce during her first season of RHOBH, which aired in 2017.

“I remember my first day, honestly it was like, ‘F—, at what point do I tell everybody that I’m getting a divorce? Like when do I do this?’” she recalled. “Truthfully, for us, it was really about a power struggle.”

Mellencamp added that she started resenting Arroyave when she became financially dependent on him.

“We were always kind of equals when we were together. I rode horses, I was compeтιтive and I was all these things,” she said. “Then I couldn’t get pregnant naturally, I did all these IVFs. Then, all of a sudden, he was in charge of our finances, and I had never been that. I’d never not had my own money. I had been working since I was 17. Then I just started hating him.”

Arroyave has not addressed the duo’s split, but he praised Mellencamp for using her skin cancer battle for good one week before she filed for divorce.

“To see @teddimellencamp embrace her pain and use it for the greater good again last night as she emceed the @curemelanoma gala, was a beautiful reminder of what she is capable of,” he wrote via Instagram alongside several pH๏τos of the pair, including a sH๏τ of them kissing. “Her story has already saved lives. And I couldn’t be prouder that she will continue to save more. Love you, Teds.”

The post was shared on October 25, five days after the date of separation that Mellencamp listed when filing for divorce.
