Jana Kramer made an emotional disclosure in a touching Instagram post celebrating her son Roman’s first birthday this week.

The 40-year-old actress and her husband Alan Russell, a former soccer player, welcomed their bundle of joy last year and married in his native Scotland this July.

Now, the day before her little boy turned one, Jana has revealed that she nearly miscarried Roman in her first trimester.

‘Around 8 weeks pregnant I started to heavily bleed. I started to cry as I knew just what was happening as I’ve miscarried multiple times before in my past,’ she wrote.

However Roman was saved, and Jana has now issued a moving message to anyone struggling to have a baby – ‘never lose hope.’

She frankly discussed her present state of mind, writing: ‘On the eve of Roman’s first birthday I’m feeling all the emotions but mostly just so grateful.’

Jana recalled: ‘Around 8 weeks pregnant I started to heavily bleed. I started to cry as I knew just what was happening as I’ve miscarried multiple times before in my past. I was shocked when we saw a heartbeat later that day.’

The One Tree Hill alumna was informed that she was suffering from ‘a subchronic hemorrhage and because the hemorrhage was bigger than the baby at the time, there was a 50/50 chance I would miscarry.’

Jana added: ‘I’m so thankful for Allan because he heard the positive side of it …but all I heard was I’m going to lose the baby. For the next 8-10 weeks I would see blood and for anyone that has miscarried you know it’s the most uneasy thing to see when you’re pregnant. But the hemorrhage went away and Roman kept growing.’

She heartbreakingly continued: ‘Then there was the fibroid that kept growing that we were told could interrupt the placenta.’

Jana continued: ‘Everyday I prayed so hard for this sweet baby to just keep on beating. So when it was time to write on the foundation of our house our prayers and scripture we love, all I kept thinking was just “keep on beating baby”.’

The accompanying Instagram album included a picture of the bare wood on one of the doorframes of Jana and Allan’s house – on which they had written the phrase: ‘Keep beating baby,’ along with a heart.

Another picture showed Allan apparently writing the phrase: ‘You will be safe, baby,’ also on a doorframe that had yet to be painted.

Allan and Jana went Instagram official in January 2023 and got engaged that May before welcoming Roman in November and then tying the knot this July

Posting those two pH๏τos alongside a more recent snap of her holding Roman, Jana wrote: ‘The before and after I prayed for.’

The Michigan native shared: ‘I have had multiple miscarriages and it isn’t lost on me I got pregnant the very first month we tried.’

She concluded: ‘I hope no matter what age, or how long it’s taking, or if you have had loses, that you never lose hope. I know it’s not easy though and I’m sorry… but I can promise you that God and their heartbeats will always find a way.’

Later in her pregnancy, while she and Allan were vacationing in Florida on their ‘babymoon,’ Jana was hospitalized with a bacterial infection.

She showered praise on her ‘amazing man’ for remaining with her in the hospital for two days and refusing to go back to their H๏τel to sleep.

In addition to Roman, Jana shares two children called Jolie, seven, and Jace, four, with her previous husband, former NFL player Mike Caussin.

Jana married Mike, her third husband, in 2015 and he has confessed to cheating on her with multiple women before their eventual divorce in 2021.

Allan and Jana went Instagram official in January 2023 and got engaged that May before welcoming Roman in November and then tying the knot this July.
