A new episode of Netflix’s UFO documentary series Encounters chronicles the sighting of unidentified objects above the Fukushima nuclear power plant after the accident.
On March 11, 2011, the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan became the site of one of the worst nuclear disasters in human history. This was due to a strong earthquake and subsequent tsunami, which led to the failure of its electrical network.
These disasters destroyed much of the surrounding area, but one of the few major structures to survive was the Buddhist temple of Enmein, now called the “Temple of Miracle”.
Its abbot, monk Tomonori Izumi, tells how he saw a UFO over Fukushima immediately after the accident: “The UFOs appeared after the explosion. There were so many of them. I was shocked. Radiation was leaking everywhere.
“I believe the UFOs came to regulate the flow of radiation to save us. At least that’s my theory. I don’t know if it was some kind of god or some powerful being in the UFO, but I believe that some invisible force really came to save us,” says Izumi in the episode “Encounters: Fires Over Fukushima” .
A UFO over the Fukushima nuclear power plant was seen many times in subsequent years. It was as if this “invisible force” continued to methodically check the dangerous object for complications in the situation.

Both before and after Fukushima, UFOs regularly appeared in places where nuclear power plants were located or nuclear tests were taking place.
“There is a very clear connection between UFO sightings and nuclear facilities going back decades,” says Jensin Andresen, director of Fukushima Lights.
“My personal opinion, based on over 30 years of very extensive research, is that there is an advanced extraterrestrial presence based on Earth, including in the oceans.”
Andersen said information gleaned from declassified government reports from the FBI and CIA on UFO sightings near nuclear facilities indicates 39 such incidents occurred from the 1940s to the 1990s.
“This dates back to the 1930s, when science and research were aimed at investigating the fission of the atomic nucleus. The situation escalated in 1945 after the US dropped nuclear bombs on two Japanese cities. Then it [the presence of UFOs near nuclear facilities] became decisive and final.”
And then they began to interfere directly. In March 1967, such an incident occurred at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana.
Robert Salas, who was working as a missile launch officer at the time overseeing ten nuclear-tipped missiles, claimed that a day after he received reports from other officers of strange UFO sightings, his missiles suddenly shut down and became “uncontrollable.”. He later learned that ten nuclear weapons at another nearby facility had also been “stopped” under similar circumstances.
Andersen says one of the most dramatic examples of this type of activity around nuclear facilities was the 1986 Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine.
“There was also a lot of UFO activity reported there. At the height of the Chernobyl fire, the reading was 3,000 milliroentgen, which is a unit of measurement for ionizing radiation.
“And just at the height of the fire, many people watched as a UFO arrived, stayed for 3 minutes, turned on the lights right on the 4th power unit and flew away. They measured the value and it dropped to 800. In just a few minutes. It seems like a very conscious attempt to eliminate the danger caused by the malfunction.”
Like the head monk of the Temple of Miracle, Andresen believes that extraterrestrial beings are trying to help us avoid our own self-destruction through nuclear disasters.
“I think this is a mind that recognizes the depth of human creation and wants to preserve it. I think this mind cares about us. I think this mind does not want us to become extinct.
“It’s like they’re telling us, “We’re right here with you. Just open your hearts. Open your minds. We’d like to help you. And, you know, let’s get to know each other better.” I think that’s really what their message is.”
