🔥 The War Reaches Moscow’s Doorstep as Drone Strikes Bring Ukraine’s Fear Back to Russia

The war that Russia brought to Ukraine is now being felt much closer to Moscow’s own doorstep.
In one of the largest recent drone ᴀssaults on Russian territory, Ukrainian UAVs reportedly struck across multiple regions, forcing air-defense systems into action and sending explosions into the night sky near the Russian capital. Russian officials said several people were killed near Moscow during the May 17 attack, while Reuters reported it was the biggest overnight drone attack on the capital in more than a year.

The strikes also targeted Russia’s energy infrastructure. Reuters reported that the Syzran oil refinery halted operations after a May 21 Ukrainian drone attack damaged a primary processing unit, while earlier strikes forced some central Russian refineries to stop or reduce output.

For Ukraine, these attacks are a message: the fear, sirens, and destruction that have haunted Ukrainian cities can no longer remain one-sided. Kyiv argues that striking oil facilities and military-linked infrastructure is part of weakening Russia’s ability to continue the war.

For Moscow, the growing reach of Ukrainian drones raises an uncomfortable question: if the capital and key refineries can be touched, where is truly safe?
