GUS LAMONT’S GRANDMOTHER BREAKS HER SILENCE: “THEY THINK I BURIED HIM” AS NEW DETAILS EMERGE IN THE SEARCH FOR ANSWERS

Nearly a year after four-year-old Gus Lamont vanished from his family’s remote South Australian property, his grandmother Josie Murray has spoken publicly about the police investigation and the theory she says authorities have been considering.
Murray has strongly denied any involvement in Gus’s disappearance.
In an interview with 7NEWS and Spotlight, she said police had told her they believed she may have been involved in covering up what happened to the little boy.

“They think that I buried him,” Murray said, describing the allegation as “ludicrous” and insisting she had nothing to do with Gus’s disappearance.
Gus was reported missing from Oak Park Station, near Yunta in South Australia, on September 27, 2025. A mᴀssive search operation followed, involving hundreds of personnel and extensive ground and aerial searches.
Despite the scale of the operation, Gus has not been found.
Police have previously said they believe someone known to Gus may have information about what happened. As of September 23, authorities confirmed that one of Gus’s grandparents remained a suspect in the investigation, although police did not publicly identify that person.
Murray has rejected the police theory and said she believes Gus may have been taken by someone outside the family.
In a later interview, she also allowed 7NEWS access to parts of the property, including areas connected to the day Gus disappeared. She recalled the emotional moment when she last saw him before his disappearance and said she continues to want answers about what happened.
The investigation has now entered another critical phase.
Police recently announced that painstaking manual analysis of aerial imagery had identified anomalies that investigators believed warranted further examination. Authorities have also offered a $1 million reward for information leading to Gus’s whereabouts or a conviction in the case.
Gus’s parents, Jess and Josh Lamont, recently made their first public video appeal, saying they desperately want their son home and believe someone knows what happened to him.
“We are desperate to have him returned home to us and we are desperate for answers,” Josh said. Jess urged anyone with even a small piece of information to come forward.
For now, the central questions remain unanswered.
What happened to Gus? Where is he? And what information might still be missing from the investigation?
Police continue to investigate, while Gus’s family waits for answers nearly a year after the little boy disappeared.
