Syrian father Munzir al-Nazzal lifted his young son Mustafa high into the air, creating an image that showed something far more powerful than hardship — a father’s love and a child’s joy. 💗

Munzir had lost one leg after an explosion in Syria. Mustafa was born without arms or legs, and his family faced an uncertain future while living through the consequences of war. 🕊️

The pH๏τograph, тιтled “Hardship of Life,” went on to win the Siena International PH๏τo Awards in 2021 and brought worldwide attention to their family. 🌍📸

Soon, that attention opened a new chapter.

With humanitarian support, the family traveled to Italy in January 2022, where Munzir and Mustafa began receiving medical care and rehabilitation. Specialists worked toward prosthetic solutions for Munzir and future possibilities for Mustafa. 🏥💙

For Mustafa, the journey was never simply about receiving prosthetic limbs.

It was about learning, growing, going to school and discovering new ways to experience the world.

And for his father, the journey became a chance to show his son something just as important:
