💗✨ SHE WAS BORN WITHOUT A NOSE — BUT HER JOURNEY HAS SHOWN WHAT HOPE AND INNOVATION CAN DO

When Tessa Evans was born in Northern Ireland in 2013, doctors discovered that she had an extremely rare condition called congenital arhinia — she was born without an external nose, nasal cavities, or a sense of smell. Because the condition affected her ability to breathe safely, she needed a tracheostomy as a newborn. 🙏💗

As Tessa grew, her family and doctors searched for a way to help her facial development without waiting until her teenage years for traditional reconstruction. Using 3D imaging and a model of her skull, specialists at Great Ormond Street Hospital designed a series of custom implants to gradually shape the soft tissue as she grew. ✨🏥

Her first implant was placed when she was just two years old. The journey was not always easy — infections and further procedures meant that some implants had to be removed or replaced. But her family continued moving forward, one stage at a time. 🌷💕

The goal was never to make Tessa “someone else.” It was about giving her the opportunity to grow naturally while respecting the little girl she already was. 💗
