Andrea Skopova and three members of the Horvath family are facing murder charges following the d#ath of newborn Baby S, who prosecutors allege was found with 33 wounds.

The case has now reached Sheffield Crown Court, where the four defendants were remanded in custody as the serious allegations against them were outlined. Prosecutors also allege that attempts were made to clean the scene and conceal what had happened before the baby was discovered.

As proceedings continue, attention is turning to what allegedly happened in the period before Baby S was found. Prosecutors are expected to present evidence surrounding those events, with one particularly disturbing allegation potentially becoming an important part of the case when the matter eventually reaches a jury.

According to evidence outlined in court, Baby S was found after police were called to a property in the Wincobank area of Sheffield following concerns about the safety of an infant. Prosecutors told the court that the newborn had suffered 33 wounds. The allegations form part of the prosecution case and have not been proven at trial.

The prosecution has also alleged that attempts were made to clean the scene and conceal what had happened before the baby was discovered. All four adults have denied the allegations through the ongoing legal process and remain enтιтled to a fair trial.

The case has now been listed for trial at Sheffield Crown Court. Judge Sarah Wright set a trial date of April 12, 2027, with proceedings expected to last between six and seven weeks. The four adult defendants were remanded in custody as the investigation and court proceedings continue.

A fifth defendant, a 15-year-old girl whose idenтιтy is legally protected, has also been charged with perverting the course of justice. Two other women who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder remain on bail while police continue their investigation.

The case has deeply affected the local community, with flowers reportedly left near the area as people mourned the loss of the newborn. South Yorkshire Police have urged the public not to speculate or share information online that could interfere with the legal proceedings.

For now, the allegations against the four adults remain allegations. The evidence surrounding Baby S’s d#ath will ultimately be examined in full when the case reaches trial, where a jury will be asked to determine what happened and whether the defendants are legally responsible.
