๐ฅบ๐ AT FIVE, SHE SHOULD BE WORRYING ABOUT SCHOOL AND FRIENDS โ NOT A โBIG GOGGAโ INSIDE HER BLOOD ๐๏ธ๐
At just five years old, Michelle should be thinking about school, making new friends, playing with her favorite toys and enjoying the simple joys of childhood. ๐๐งธโค๏ธ
Instead, she is facing B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), a cancer affecting the blood and bone marrow that has suddenly turned her childhood upside down. ๐๐๏ธ
It didn’t begin with one dramatic moment.
Instead, the warning signs appeared little by little.
Michelle’s behavior began to change. Then came persistent back pain and a loss of appeัฮนัe. Her family knew something wasn’t right, even when the early explanations pointed elsewhere.

Stress.
Growing pains.
Perhaps a muscle problem.
But her mother’s instincts wouldn’t let her stop searching for answers.
A pediatric specialist eventually ordered urgent tests.
Then came the words no parent ever wants to hear:
Michelle had leukemia. ๐ฅบ๐
๐ฅ A CHILDโS FIGHT BEGINS
Treatment began almost immediately.
Chemotherapy.
Injections.
Blood tests.
Medications.
Long days and nights in the hospital. โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
For a five-year-old, even the smallest medical procedure can feel frightening.
Michelle became anxious around the needles and often cried.
So her family found a way to explain something impossibly complicated in a language she could understand.
They told her there was a โbig goggaโ inside her body โ a bad bug in her blood that the doctors were working hard to chase away. ๐๐
And every day, they remind her of something even more important:
She is loved. She is strong. And she is never alone. ๐ฅนโค๏ธ
๐ TWO AND A HALF YEARS OF TREATMENT
Michelle’s treatment protocol is expected to last around two and a half years.
The earliest months are among the most intensive, keeping her away from school and the ordinary childhood she desperately wants to return to. ๐๐
While other children her age are learning, playing and making memories with their classmates, Michelle is spending her days navigating hospital visits and treatment.
But she continues to fight.
One day at a time.
One treatment at a time.
One little victory at a time. ๐ช๐๏ธโจ
๐ A FAMILY FIGHTING ON TWO FRONTS
The emotional burden of childhood cancer is already enormous.
But for Michelle’s parents, there is another worry they shouldn’t have to carry while caring for their daughter: the financial cost of treatment.
Medical aid does not cover every medication or additional expense, leaving the family facing bills while their only priority should be helping Michelle get better. ๐
That’s why her story has been shared and why a BackaBuddy fundraising campaign was created.
The goal is simple:
To help make sure Michelle’s medical journey doesn’t become a financial crisis for her family, too. ๐๐
Donations, prayers and sharing her story cannot make the treatment disappear.
But they can help keep her family standing while Michelle continues her long road toward recovery. ๐ท
๐ฅน LET HER BE A SCHOOLGIRL AGAIN
Michelle is still young enough to understand leukemia through the story of a โbig goggaโ that needs to be chased away.
Yet she is already old enough to know what it means to be a patient.
She deserves to be thinking about crayons instead of chemotherapy.
About playgrounds instead of hospital rooms.
About friends instead of blood tests.
About being five instead of being sick. ๐ฅบ๐๐
Her greatest wish isn’t complicated.
She just wants her childhood back. โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
And the hope of everyone who loves her is that, one day soon, Michelle will be able to return to school, sit beside her friends and worry about nothing more serious than the small dramas of being five. ๐๏ธ๐
Until then, she keeps fighting her โbig goggaโ โ surrounded by the love of her family and the hope of everyone cheering her on. ๐๐ฅน๐
