A deeply troubling case in Sheffield has now moved toward a full Crown Court trial after a newborn baby girl, known only as Baby S, was found at a property in Holywell Heights, Wincobank.

Police were called on August 30 following concerns about the safety of an infant. A forensic post-mortem later confirmed that the baby d#ied from st@b wounds. Prosecutors told the court that Baby S had suffered 33 wounds from 15 separate incidents.

Four adults have been charged with m#rder: Andrea Skopova, 20; Peter Horvath Jr, 19; Peter Horvath Sr, 38; and Nina Horvathova, 37. They also face charges relating to causing or allowing the d#ath of a child and allegedly taking steps to conceal the infant’s d#ath.

A fifth defendant, a 15-year-old girl, has separately been charged with perverting the course of justice. She cannot be named because of her age. Two other women, aged 26 and 37, were arrested during the investigation but remain on bail.

During an earlier hearing, the court heard that Baby S was found wrapped in a towel inside a blue bag in an outbuilding at the property. The prosecution also told the court that the baby’s father remains unknown and that Peter Horvath Jr, who was Andrea Skopova’s boyfriend, is not believed to be the father.

The case has now reached Sheffield Crown Court, where Judge Sarah Wright set a provisional trial date for April 12, 2027. The trial is expected to last between six and seven weeks, with the next hearing scheduled for October 2. All five defendants remain in custody.

The proceedings are still at an early stage, and the charges remain allegations. The Crown Prosecution Service has stressed that it is for the court to determine whether the defendants are guilty, and all five are enтιтled to a fair trial. Police have also urged the public not to spread speculation or unverified information online while the case remains active.
