For nearly a year, Aunesty Garcia’s family held onto hope.

They prayed for more time. They believed in the possibility of better days. And through every difficult moment, her father, Joe, continued leaning on his faith.

Now, he is facing the words no parent ever wants to say.

“She’s no longer with us.”

Aunesty, a 17-year-old from Mission, Texas, had spent months navigating an extraordinary medical journey after being diagnosed with a rare granulosa cell tumor. Her treatment at MD Anderson in Houston became a major part of her family’s life, and later, the illness spread to her brain.

Through it all, her family continued to hope and pray.

Earlier this year, Joe spoke about his faith during the uncertainty.

“It’s in God’s hands,” he said in May.

Now, that same faith is helping him face an unimaginable goodbye.

In an emotional message, Joe asked people not to focus only on his daughter, but to pray for everyone who loved her.

“All I ask for is prayers for the family. Just pray for the family.”

Then he spoke directly to Aunesty.

“We love you so much, mija. We know you’ve gained your wings. I’m gonna miss you, mi hija. I love you so much.”

Those words reflect the profound love between a father and his daughter.

But Aunesty’s story contains another powerful chapter that her family hopes will never be forgotten.

While she was facing her own health challenges, Aunesty still found room in her heart to care for someone else.

Last year, she stood beside 3-year-old Levi during his own cancer journey before he pᴀssed away.

She was dealing with fear and uncertainty herself, yet she chose to offer support to a young child and his family.
