💔✈️ SHE WAS JUST DRIVING HOME WITH HER DAUGHTER — THEN A PLANE FELL FROM THE SKY
For Alex Garneau, August 20, 2026, began like any ordinary day.
She was driving along Foothills Boulevard in Prince George, British Columbia, with her young daughter, Josie.
She had no way of knowing that within moments, a terrifying aviation emergency would change her family forever. 💔
A Beech King Air 200 operated by Sekani Air was approaching Prince George International Airport when one of its engines lost power.
The aircraft had six pᴀssengers and two crew members aboard.
The pilots were suddenly faced with an impossible decision:
They had to get the aircraft onto the ground.
And they had very little time. ✈️🚨

😱✈️ THE PLANE CAME DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY
At around 2:20 p.m., the aircraft attempted an emergency landing on Foothills Boulevard.
But the highway was filled with vehicles.
As the plane descended, it collided with four cars.
One of those vehicles belonged to Alex.
The impact was devastating.
Alex was fatally injured.
Her daughter Josie survived the crash with minor injuries. 💔🕊️
Remarkably, none of the pᴀssengers or crew members aboard the aircraft were reported injured.
But for the people on the ground, the scene was terrifying.
💔👧 A MOTHER DIDN’T MAKE IT HOME
Alex was a devoted mother of two.
She leaves behind her husband, Jordan, and their children, Josie and Jackson.
Friends described her as the kind of mother who was deeply involved in her children’s lives.
She was known as a proud “hockey mom”—the person who drove to practices, organized activities, cheered from the sidelines and made sure her children had every opportunity to pursue their dreams.
She wasn’t simply watching her children grow up.
She was there for everything.
Every game.
Every activity.
Every milestone.
And then, in a matter of seconds, her family lost her.
🥹💙 “THE FRIEND WHO ALWAYS HAD YOUR BACK”
Those who knew Alex have struggled to put their grief into words.
She was remembered as someone who made people feel welcome.
Someone who showed up when others needed her.
Someone who supported the people around her without asking for anything in return.
Her family and friends say her death has left an “unimaginable hole” in the lives of Jordan, Josie and Jackson.
And for her children, the loss is something they will carry for the rest of their lives.
😨🚗 OTHER DRIVERS DESCRIBED A TERRIFYING MOMENT
The people in the other vehicles had almost no warning.
One driver, Jamie Pawliuk, recalled suddenly seeing the aircraft above him.
He tried to steer toward the ditch, but the plane’s wing struck his vehicle and tore away much of its roof.
He survived with superficial cuts and glᴀss in his hair.
Other vehicles were also damaged.
Ten people were ᴀssessed for injuries at the scene, with two taken to hospital in stable condition.
For those who survived, it was a moment that could have ended very differently.
🕊️💔 A FAMILY’S LIFE CHANGED IN SECONDS
Alex’s death has left behind a family that never expected to face such unimaginable loss.
Her children still have their memories of their mother—the woman who drove them to hockey, supported their dreams and made sure they knew they were loved.
But now they must grow up without her beside them.
Without her cheering from the sidelines.
Without the everyday moments that once seemed ordinary.
And perhaps that is what makes this tragedy so heartbreaking.
Alex wasn’t doing anything dangerous.
She was simply driving with her daughter.
She was living an ordinary moment with the people she loved.
And in an instant, everything changed. 💔
✈️⚖️ THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the crash.
Investigators have confirmed that the aircraft lost power in one engine before making the emergency landing.
A final report is expected to take considerably longer as investigators work to determine exactly what caused the loss of engine power and how the crash unfolded.
For Alex’s family, however, no investigation can undo what happened.
Their questions may eventually have answers.
Their grief will remain.
💗🕊️ REMEMBERING A MOTHER
Alex Garneau was more than a name in a tragic accident report.
She was a wife.
A mother.
A friend.
A hockey mom.
And someone whose presence mattered deeply to the people around her.
Her children, Josie and Jackson, will grow up carrying the memories she gave them.
The games she attended.
The rides she made.
The encouragement she offered.
The love she gave so freely.
A mother of two left home that afternoon expecting nothing more than an ordinary day. Instead, her family was left facing an unimaginable goodbye.
Alex’s life was taken in a freak accident, but the love she poured into her family—and the memories she created with her children—will remain long after the crash is over. 💔✈️🕊️
