DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER AT JUST 11 DAYS OLD, BABY DAISY HAS ALREADY FACED MORE THAN 30 SEDATION SESSIONS
Baby Daisy was only 11 days old when doctors discovered that she had retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer.
She was born with breathing difficulties and was transferred to a specialist children’s hospital for further testing. While Daisy was under anaesthetic, doctors performed an eye examination and noticed a tiny tumour measuring only a few millimetres.
That unexpected examination changed everything.
Because the tumour was discovered so early, Daisy was able to begin chemotherapy at just three-and-a-half weeks old. Since then, her treatment has involved repeated procedures under sedation, with her family reporting that she has already gone through more than 30 sedation sessions.
For such a tiny baby, the journey has been extraordinary. While other babies are only beginning to discover the world, Daisy has already spent so much of her young life facing hospital visits, procedures, and cancer treatment.
Her story is a reminder of how important early detection can be—and how much strength can exist in someone so small.
