💔🙏 FOUR DAYS AFTER ASKING FOR PRAYERS, THIS FAMILY LEARNED THEIR 4-YEAR-OLD HAS CANCER

Four days ago, people around the country were praying for 4-year-old Camilla, hoping that the large mᴀss discovered inside her mouth was not cancer.

Today, her family received the answer they had desperately hoped would never come.

It is cancer.

Camilla has been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of cancer that can develop in soft tissues, and she is now preparing for an approximately 18-month journey involving chemotherapy and radiation. 💔

The frightening discovery began with what initially appeared to be a simple sore on the roof of Camilla’s mouth.

But doctors soon discovered a much larger mᴀss.

Surgeons were able to remove approximately two-thirds of it. However, the remaining portion could not safely be removed because part of the mᴀss involves Camilla’s carotid artery and surrounding blood vessels.

For several days, her mother, Yeseñia, waited anxiously for the pathology results.

Today, those results confirmed what the family had been praying against.

“This is not the news we were praying for, and our hearts are heavy,” Yeseñia said.

Now the family is preparing for another difficult series of medical appointments.

Next week, Camilla is expected to return to Little Rock, Arkansas, where doctors plan to perform a PET scan and bone marrow biopsy and place a port to prepare her for treatment.

Her medical team is also considering two different treatment approaches.

One would be shorter but more intensive, while the other would last longer but be less intense on Camilla’s young body.

Either way, the road ahead is expected to involve chemotherapy and radiation for roughly the next year and a half.

And there is one detail that makes this story especially difficult to comprehend:

Camilla is only four years old. 🥺

For her mother and the rest of the family, the diagnosis has changed everything.

But Yeseñia wants everyone who prayed for Camilla just four days ago to know that the family is not giving up hope simply because the answer was not the one they wanted.

Instead, they are asking for even more prayers.

“We need our prayer warriors more than ever.”

So tonight, their request is simple.

🙏 Pray that Camilla’s doctors have wisdom as they choose the treatment approach.

🙏 Pray that her little body is strong enough to handle the difficult months ahead.

🙏 And most of all, pray for complete healing.

Camilla has a long road ahead, but she will not be walking it alone.
