PLEASE SEND A MILLION PRAYERS FOR BABY BRIAN JR. — 5-MONTH-OLD WITH HLHS FIGHTS TO RECOVER ON ECMO

Five-month-old Brian Jr. is fighting for his life at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston after his heart suddenly stopped functioning, according to his family.

Brian was diagnosed before birth with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a serious congenital heart condition in which the left side of the heart does not develop normally.

His parents, Rhiannon and Brian, chose to give their son every chance possible. Brian underwent a heart procedure on the day he was born, followed by open-heart surgeries as his treatment continued. His family also relocated from Sinton to Houston so he could receive specialized cardiac care.

Then came a devastating emergency.

Around 11:30 Monday night, Brian went into cardiac arrest. His family says a blood clot blocked blood flow to part of his heart. Doctors performed CPR for approximately two hours before placing him on ECMO, advanced life support that can temporarily support heart and lung function.

Doctors were also able to remove the clot during a cardiac catheterization procedure.

Now, his family is waiting and praying to see whether his heart can recover enough to continue functioning without another major intervention. If recovery is not sufficient, they hope Brian could potentially become a candidate for a heart transplant.

Despite everything, his family says they are refusing to give up hope.

His mother shared: “I know in my mama heart that he will pull through this!”

And his grandmother, JoAnna, asked people to surround Brian with what their family calls “a million prayers.”

Please keep Baby Brian Jr., Rhiannon, Brian, and their entire family in your thoughts and prayers as they face this incredibly difficult moment.
