Friends and loved ones are mourning the loss of 35-year-old Kansas City performer Kierra McGee, known by many as “Key,” after she was fatally injured during a weekend incident that has left her community searching for answers.

Dixon said she had been spending time with McGee at the Velvet Freeze Daiquiri bar near 18th and Vine shortly before the tragedy. “We were just going through her pictures, editing, 30 minutes before,” Dixon recalled.

According to police, McGee later went to the area outside the Baccala club near Independence Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard, where she worked and was familiar with the location.
