Lindsay Clancy became visibly emotional in court as jurors heard testimony from emergency physicians who described their desperate attempts to save her children following the January 2023 tragedy.

The emotional testimony came shortly after the jury visited several locations connected to the case, including the former Clancy family home in Duxbury, Mᴀssachusetts, where prosecutors allege the deaths occurred.

During testimony, Dr. Mark Tenerowicz, an emergency physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth, described treating 3-year-old Dawson, who arrived without a pulse and was not breathing.

Doctors performed CPR for approximately 40 minutes, administered intravenous fluids, and used emergency medications in an effort to restart his heart.

Despite those efforts, the physician told jurors that Dawson could not be revived.

As Dr. Tenerowicz concluded his testimony, Clancy, 35, was seen crying uncontrollably at the defense table, wiping away tears as proceedings continued.

A second emergency physician, Dr. Benjamin Kaufman, then testified about treating 8-month-old Callan. He explained that although the infant briefly regained a heartbeat, he never showed signs of brain function.

Callan was later transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital, where he ultimately died.

Earlier that day, jurors traveled by bus to several locations tied to the investigation, including the family’s former residence, a CVS pharmacy, and ThreeV Restaurant in Plymouth.

According to prosecutors, Clancy allegedly sent her husband, Patrick Clancy, on two errands that evening before the children died.

Jurors remained on the bus while pᴀssing the pharmacy and restaurant but entered the former family home in small groups to better understand the layout of the residence.

Back in court, Duxbury Police Officer Richard Lippard testified that he accompanied Clancy by helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital after she sustained life-threatening injuries during an apparent suicide attempt.

Lippard recalled hearing a “code blue” while guarding her hospital room, indicating she was in critical condition.

Jurors were also shown hospital pH๏τographs documenting Clancy’s injuries, including wounds to her neck and wrists. She remained expressionless as the images were displayed.

Prosecutors allege that after the children died, Clancy attempted to take her own life by ingesting medication, injuring herself, and jumping from a second-story window, leaving her permanently paralyzed.

Earlier testimony from Patrick Clancy described returning home to find his wife outside before discovering the children unresponsive in the basement.

Jurors have also heard testimony from first responders who described finding the children with visible injuries and have listened to Patrick Clancy’s emotional 911 call requesting urgent help.

Throughout the trial, Clancy has become emotional on several occasions, including while listening to the emergency call and when jurors were shown items collected as evidence.

The defense does not dispute that Clancy caused the deaths of her children. Instead, her attorneys argue that she should be found not guilty by reason of insanity, contending she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis that was worsened by multiple prescribed psychiatric medications.

According to Patrick Clancy’s testimony, his wife sought treatment from five different physicians in the months before the incident, was prescribed 15 medications, was taking six medications at the time, and had twice been hospitalized after experiencing suicidal thoughts.
