๐Ÿ“ฐ๐Ÿ’” A Father’s Final Goodbye ๐Ÿ’œ Three Young Siblings Remembered After an Unimaginable Family Tragedy

A heartbreaking family tragedy continues to leave an emotional impact years after three young siblings lost their lives in Coney Island, New York.

On September 12, 2022, authorities say 4-year-old Liliana Merdy, her 7-year-old brother Zachary, and their 3-month-old baby brother Oliver Bondarev were taken into the ocean near their home. Despite emergency efforts, all three children could not be saved, leaving relatives, neighbors, and first responders devastated.

As court proceedings later unfolded, one detail stood out above all others.

According to prosecutors, Liliana had previously told her father and grandmother that she was frightened and did not want to return home. Those words, shared in court by her father during sentencing, have remained etched in the hearts of everyone who has heard them.

“Daddy… I’m scared to go back to mommy. I want to stay here with you and grandma.”

Her father recalled that as she left, he told his daughter, “I hope I see you again.”

It would be the last time they were together.

Court testimony revealed that before the children were found, relatives received a call in which the children’s mother reportedly admitted that all three children had entered the water. Authorities later located her alone along the shoreline before discovering the children nearby.

During sentencing, the children’s mother told the court she had been experiencing severe postpartum depression and described the events of that evening as feeling like a blur. She was ultimately sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.

For the children’s family, however, no court decision can erase the pain of losing three innocent young lives.

Loved ones continue to remember Liliana as a bright little girl with a loving heart, Zachary as a caring older brother, and baby Oliver as an infant who had only just begun his journey in life.

Their story has also sparked ongoing conversations about the importance of recognizing mental health challenges, supporting families in crisis, and ensuring that children always have trusted adults who will listen when they express fear or distress.

Today, the names Liliana, Zachary, and Oliver remain symbols of innocence, reminding countless people that every child’s voice matters and every family deserves access to the support they need before tragedy unfolds.

Though their lives were far too short, their memory continues to inspire compแด€ssion, awareness, and hope that similar heartbreaks can one day be prevented.

๐Ÿ’œ Rest peacefully, Liliana, Zachary, and baby Oliver. You will always be remembered.
