đź’” They Searched for Five Months Hoping to Bring Little Genesis Home… The Final Update Has Left an Entire Community Heartbroken

For months, investigators, forensic experts, emergency responders, and volunteers searched through countless tons of debris with one shared hope—to find Genesis Reid and give a little girl the dignity of coming home.

That hope has now come to a heartbreaking end.

Authorities announced that the extensive search of the Coffee County landfill has concluded without recovering the toddler’s remains.

Genesis was reported missing on February 16, 2026, by her mother, Adrienne Reid.

However, according to investigators, the evidence suggested the little girl had actually been missing for weeks before the report was ever made.

As detectives gathered additional evidence, the investigation shifted from a missing child case to a homicide investigation.

Prosecutors allege that Genesis died around Christmas 2025. According to investigators, surveillance video appears to show Adrienne Reid placing a duffel bag into a dumpster that night, and detectives believe the dumpster’s contents were later transported to the Coffee County landfill.

Those allegations have resulted in charges of capital murder and abuse of a corpse against Reid. She has pleaded not guilty, remains in custody without bond, and is awaiting trial. The allegations will ultimately be tested in court.

Although the landfill search did not recover Genesis’ body, officials emphasized that the effort was not in vain.

Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore thanked the many agencies, forensic specialists, volunteers, and community members who devoted months to the search, saying the operation reflected the determination of everyone involved to seek answers for the little girl.

Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox also said prosecutors intend to move forward with the case, explaining that they believe the available evidence is sufficient to continue pursuing justice even without recovering Genesis’ remains.

The search brought together law enforcement agencies from across Alabama, forensic teams from multiple universities, emergency responders, volunteers, and local residents who donated food, supplies, and support throughout the operation.

While the search has ended, officials say their commitment to seeking accountability has not.

For many in the community, Genesis is more than a case file.

She is a little girl whose life ended far too soon.

And although her remains have not been found, those who searched for her say her name—and the pursuit of justice in her memory—will not be forgotten. ❤️🕊️
