California girl, 7, is scalped by pack of six vicious stray dogs while playing outside
A 7–year–old girl in California rushed to the hospital on Saturday after a vicious pack of stray dogs ambushed her outside, leaving her with horrific injuries.
The attack happened near where the little Patricia Edmiston lived in Corning, about 170 miles northwest of San Francisco, according to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office.
Edmiston sustained severe injuries to her scalp and legs after the six dogs viciously attacked her near Barham Avenue and Bosque Avenue at approximately 12.30pm.
The six stray dogs involved in the attack were seized as part of the police investigation, authorities said.
They were taken to the Tehama County Animal Shelter, and the investigation into the attack remains ongoing. Police did not identify the dog breed or breeds, and the current status of the dogs is unclear.
Though law enforcement had not released the little girl’s idenтιтy, she has been named by her grandmother, Monica Edmiston, as Patricia.
Edmiston said the dogs ripped Patricia’s scalp off and that her granddaughter was ‘fighting for her life’ in the hospital with numerous wounds all over her body.
Neither Patricia’s family nor the police have said how she encountered the pack of canines or what she was doing at the time of the attack.

Edmiston said Patricia had been rushed to the University of California at Davis’ medical center, about 15 miles west of Sacramento, where she underwent surgery and remained in critical condition.
Patricia’s grandmother added that the little girl’s father and brothers were by her side every day, but added that Patricia’s family was ‘facing enormous challenges.’
‘They are sleeping in their car in Sacramento just to stay close to Patricia, and they need help to cover basic necessities like gas and food,’ she wrote on GoFundMe.
The family was asking for money to cover necessities like gas and food.
As of Friday night, about $4,100 had been raised, more than the initial $3,000 amount. Donations had been paused.
Police had said that Patricia had initially been taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to an out–of–area center for advanced treatment.
UC Davis is about 100 miles south of Corning, where the dog attack happened.
Deputies interviewed several witnesses after the attack and also processed the scene.
So far, no arrests or charges have been announced nearly one week after the attack.

The Corning Union Elementary School District also confirmed on Facebook that Patricia had been attacked and was being treated at UC Davis.
Patricia’s grandmother, Edmiston, said the little girl’s resilience was ‘inspiring everyone around her.’
On Tuesday, she posted a pH๏τo of Patricia in the hospital, with her head and hand wrapped up in mᴀssive bandaging.
A Hello Kitty plush laid to her side as she posed with her relatives and cracked a smile.
Other pH๏τos uploaded by the family showed the little girl smiling and full of life, as she posed with her siblings or flashed a lost tooth.
Edmiston wrote that Patricia was scheduled to go home from the hospital yesterday, Thursday.
She added: ‘Patricia and her family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts, and donations. The love the town of Corning showed was overwhelming.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to Edmiston and the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office for further comment.
