Premature Baby Makes Remarkable Recovery After Emergency Birth

A baby who showed no heartbeat when he was delivered has made an inspiring recovery after doctors spent an hour performing life-saving treatment.
Demi Duffin, 17, and her partner, Charlie Hayes, 19, from Kent, England, were expecting their first child when a routine pregnancy scan revealed that their baby, Luca, had gastroschisis, a condition in which the abdominal wall does not fully develop, leaving some organs outside the body.
Although doctors initially believed the condition was manageable, everything changed when Demi, at 30 weeks pregnant, noticed Luca had stopped moving. After a second hospital visit, doctors discovered that his heartbeat could no longer be detected and rushed Demi into an emergency C-section seven weeks before her due date.

Born weighing just 3 pounds 5 ounces, Luca required immediate medical intervention. Doctors worked tirelessly for nearly an hour before successfully restoring signs of life.
“It was the longest hour I’ve ever been through,” Charlie recalled, expressing his graтιтude to the medical team for saving his son’s life.
Luca was then transferred to The Royal London Hospital for specialized care. Determined to stay by his side, Demi left her original hospital as soon as she was able so she could be reunited with her baby.
Over the following weeks, Luca underwent two more surgeries. His parents were finally able to hold him for the first time and share precious skin-to-skin contact, a moment Charlie described as unforgettable.
Doctors continue to monitor Luca closely, as his condition remains delicate, but the family has received encouraging news. According to a recent update, he has started feeding successfully, is growing stronger each day, and even wore his first baby outfit.
As Luca continues his recovery, his family remains hopeful and deeply thankful for the support they have received during this challenging journey.
