Brazilian influencer and mother of one Karol Belchior was fatally stabbed after returning home from a night out, and authorities have arrested her former boyfriend in connection with her death.

The 27-year-old was killed in the early hours of Saturday in the Diadema neighborhood of Horizonte, Brazil.

According to police, Karol had been returning home from a party when she was allegedly attacked with a knife by her 26-year-old ex-boyfriend, who investigators believe had been waiting for her outside the property.

The suspect was arrested later that same day in Horizonte and taken to a Civil Police station. He has since been formally charged with femicide, the legal classification used in Brazil for the killing of a woman because of her gender.

In a statement, authorities said military police officers and forensic teams responded to the scene, adding that the investigation remains ongoing.

Witnesses told investigators that the couple had recently ended their relationship.

Before the attack, Karol had spent Friday evening attending a São João celebration at the gym where she worked before later going to a funk party. Her final social media posts showed her enjoying the events with friends.

Karol had built a following of around 500,000 across social media, where she shared fitness content, moments with her family, and lifestyle updates.

In one of her recent posts, she reflected on relationships following her breakup, writing:

“I already pay for everything myself, I manage on my own. If it’s not to protect me, to make me feel loved, cared for and respected, what would I want a man for?”
Following her death, family members and friends shared emotional tributes online, remembering her as a joyful woman with many hopes for the future.

One of her uncles, who is also a digital creator, described Karol as:

“A cheerful woman, quick to laugh, full of dreams and plans that were yet to come—dreams that were brutally interrupted by someone who claimed to love her.”
Another relative said Karol’s young son had been “deprived of growing up alongside his mother.”

Her death has prompted an outpouring of grief from friends, followers, and fellow creators, many of whom remembered her as a vibrant woman whose life was cut tragically short.
