🚨💔 New Court Documents Reveal Prosecutors’ Allegations in Fatal Stabbing of Texas Mother Caroline “Caro” Peña
Newly filed court documents have shed further light on the fatal stabbing of 32-year-old Caroline “Caro” Peña, providing prosecutors’ account of the confrontation that ended the life of the Texas mother of five and stunned the Del Rio community.
The homicide investigation has drawn widespread attention as authorities continue building their case against Amaya “Cookie” Diaz, Kitty Mia Diaz, and Kyandra Renee Faz, who have each been charged with murder. Under the law, all three defendants remain presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
According to prosecutors, the incident began outside a residence following what investigators describe as an ongoing dispute. Court filings allege that Peña arrived at the location before the confrontation rapidly escalated into violence.
The criminal complaint alleges that 19-year-old Amaya Diaz exited the pᴀssenger side of a vehicle carrying a knife and stabbed Peña during the altercation. Prosecutors further allege that Peña suffered a stab wound to her back before the confrontation continued, with Kitty Mia Diaz and Kyandra Renee Faz later becoming involved in the physical ᴀssault. These allegations have not yet been tested in court.
Emergency responders rushed Peña to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel fought to save her life. Despite their efforts, the 32-year-old later died from her injuries.
Investigators say surveillance footage, witness interviews, forensic evidence, and physical evidence recovered from the scene have become key components of the prosecution’s case. Although authorities have not publicly released all of the video evidence, detectives reportedly compared the recordings with witness statements and forensic findings to establish a timeline of the events.
Court records show that bond has been set at $5 million for each defendant, while prosecutors continue reviewing additional evidence as the investigation remains active. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of further legal action should new evidence emerge.
Legal experts note that criminal complaints summarize the prosecution’s allegations and do not consтιтute findings of fact. Prosecutors must ultimately prove every element of the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, while defense attorneys will have the opportunity to challenge the evidence presented in court.
Beyond the courtroom, Peña’s death has left a lasting impact on her family and the Del Rio community. Friends and loved ones remember her as a devoted mother whose five children were the center of her life. Memorials filled with flowers, candles, and heartfelt messages continue to honor her memory as the community mourns her tragic loss.
As the case moves toward future hearings, investigators continue encouraging anyone with relevant information to contact law enforcement. Ultimately, the responsibility for determining the facts—and any criminal liability—will rest with the Texas court system after all admissible evidence has been carefully examined.
