A Texas community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 33-year-old Raissa Thatukila and her 6-year-old daughter, Nathy Mbuyi, following a fatal shooting in Haltom City that investigators believe stemmed from an ongoing child custody dispute.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on March 27, 2026, in the parking lot of Birdville ISD Stadium, a place typically ᴀssociated with school events, youth sports, and community gatherings. Instead, it became the scene of a devastating act of violence that claimed three lives.

Police allege that 30-year-old John Mbuyi asked Raissa to meet him at the parking lot, telling her he intended to give her money. Investigators say Raissa arrived with her young daughter, believing they were attending a routine meeting.
