A Dougherty County jury took just 17 minutes to convict Rico Lashon Hall in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, 32-year-old Nakeisha Warren, bringing a measure of justice to her family after a case that began in November 2023.

According to investigators, officers responded to a shooting on the night of November 19, 2023, and found Warren suffering from a gunsH๏τ wound. Despite emergency efforts, she later died from her injuries.

Authorities identified Hall, Warren’s boyfriend, as the primary suspect. Investigators alleged that he fled the scene after the shooting before officers located and arrested him a short time later while he was walking along Highway 82 near Marks Melon Patch.

Hall was subsequently charged with murder, aggravated ᴀssault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence they said established Hall’s responsibility for Warren’s death, including testimony and evidence related to the shooting and the events that followed.

After hearing the evidence, the jury deliberated for approximately 17 minutes before returning guilty verdicts.

Hall was convicted of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated ᴀssault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He is scheduled to be sentenced at a later hearing.

For Warren’s family, the verdict marks the conclusion of the trial, though it cannot erase the loss of a loved one whose life ended far too soon.

The case also highlights the devastating impact of intimate partner violence. Advocates continue to encourage anyone experiencing abuse or threats from a partner to seek help and report dangerous situations before they escalate.
