19-Year-Old Marly Kinney Found Deceased After Disappearing During Pontoon Boat Outing on Grayson Lake
The search for 19-year-old Marly Kinney has ended in tragedy after authorities confirmed that the young woman was found deceased following her disappearance during a pontoon boat outing on Grayson Lake.
For days, family members, friends, and volunteers held onto hope that Marly would be found alive. Instead, the heartbreaking discovery has left a community mourning the loss of a young woman whose life ended far too soon.
According to authorities, Marly was spending the afternoon on the lake with a group of friends aboard a pontoon boat. Investigators say she was last seen at approximately 4 p.m. on Wednesday before she entered the water.
Early reports indicate that Marly had reportedly gone into the water to use the restroom. However, those on the boat did not immediately realize she was missing. By the time her absence was noticed, no one could identify the exact location where she had entered the water, creating significant challenges for rescue crews.
Without a precise last-known location, search teams were forced to cover a large area of Grayson Lake, carefully searching both the water and surrounding shoreline as time pᴀssed.
The emergency response began after 23-year-old Cameron Conley, identified by authorities as the operator of the pontoon boat, reported to Grayson Lake Marina that he could not locate one of the pᴀssengers. His report prompted an immediate search involving multiple emergency agencies.
During the investigation, Kentucky State Police said they observed signs that Conley may have been under the influence of alcohol. According to investigators, officers detected the odor of alcohol and noted that his eyes appeared glᴀssy and bloodsH๏τ. Police also stated that Conley admitted to drinking, and an Intoxilyzer test reportedly indicated a blood alcohol concentration above Kentucky’s legal limit for operating a boat.
Conley was subsequently arrested and charged with operating a boat while under the influence. He was booked into the Carter County Detention Center before later being released on his own recognizance. Court records indicate that an arraignment has been scheduled.
Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains active. At this time, investigators have not concluded that alcohol caused Marly Kinney’s disappearance or death, and officials continue working to determine the full sequence of events surrounding the tragedy.
As the investigation continues, those who knew Marly are remembering her as a young woman whose future was filled with promise. While questions remain unanswered, her loved ones are now focused on honoring her memory and supporting one another through an unimaginable loss.
