Missouri Woman Found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Months After Husband Resolved Domestic ᴀssault Case

Authorities in Missouri are continuing to investigate the death of 36-year-old Allie Hummel, whose pᴀssing has drawn renewed attention to a domestic violence case involving her husband, anesthesiologist Dr. Andrew Michael Hummel.

Officials have not released Allie’s cause or manner of death, and investigators have not announced any connection between her death and the ᴀssault case that concluded earlier this year. The investigation remains ongoing.

The case first came to public attention on July 24, 2025, when police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at a H๏τel involving Dr. Hummel and his wife. According to court records, officers found signs of a violent altercation inside the room, including blood on the bed and a cut on Dr. Hummel’s hand.

Allie was later located in the H๏τel’s women’s restroom. Police reported that she had a swollen lip and told officers she had been physically ᴀssaulted during an argument with her husband. According to investigators, she stated that he had strangled her multiple times until she was unable to breathe. A guest staying in a nearby room also reported hearing a woman repeatedly shouting, “Get off me.”

Dr. Hummel was initially charged with second-degree domestic ᴀssault for the alleged strangulation and third-degree domestic ᴀssault for allegedly striking his wife. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and was released on bond while the case proceeded.

The criminal case concluded on March 12, 2026, when Dr. Hummel pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree ᴀssault.

Rather than serving jail time, he received suspended one-year jail sentences and was placed on two years of supervised probation. His probation conditions included remaining alcohol-free, completing substance abuse and psychological evaluations, undergoing domestic violence ᴀssessments, attending a batterer intervention program, and participating in a domestic violence victim impact panel.

Following the incident, Hannibal Regional Hospital revoked Dr. Hummel’s hospital privileges. However, his medical license remained active, allowing him to continue practicing elsewhere if permitted.

On June 23, 2026, deputies from the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical emergency at a residence alongside emergency medical personnel and the New London Fire Department. When first responders arrived, they found Allie Hummel unresponsive inside the home.

She was pronounced ᴅᴇᴀᴅ at the scene.

The Ralls County Coroner ordered an autopsy, which is expected to help determine the cause and manner of her death. Authorities have not released the results and have emphasized that the investigation is still active.

At this stage, officials have not stated whether Allie’s death was natural, accidental, or the result of any criminal act. They have also not identified any suspect or announced additional charges.

Although investigators have not connected the two incidents, the timing of Allie’s death—less than four months after the ᴀssault case concluded—has prompted renewed public interest in the earlier allegations.

The investigation will likely include medical findings, witness interviews, forensic evidence, and a review of the events leading up to the emergency call. Officials say it is too early to draw conclusions before the autopsy and investigative process are complete.

For Allie’s family and loved ones, the legal process offers little comfort as they wait for answers about what happened in her final hours.

Her death has also renewed broader conversations about domestic violence, victim safety, and the long-term risks ᴀssociated with abusive relationships. At the same time, authorities continue to caution that no conclusions should be drawn regarding the cause of her death until the investigation is complete.

As investigators continue their work, many questions remain unanswered. The findings from the autopsy and any future updates may provide greater clarity about the circumstances surrounding Allie Hummel’s death.

Until then, officials continue to ask for patience as the investigation moves forward, while those who knew Allie remember her life and await the answers that have yet to come.
