Search Continues for Ja’Derrius Minnieweather as Investigators Pursue New Leads

The search for 15-year-old Ja’Derrius Minnieweather continues weeks after his disappearance, with investigators and volunteers working across multiple areas of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in hopes of locating the missing teenager.
Although authorities have filed a first-degree murder charge against 51-year-old Maurice Robbia Parms, Ja’Derrius has not yet been found. Investigators have stated that locating him remains a top priority as the criminal case moves forward.
Search efforts have expanded across wooded areas, canals, vacant properties, and other locations that investigators believe may be relevant. The Baton Rouge Police Department, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, and numerous volunteer organizations have joined the operation, using both traditional search methods and specialized investigative techniques.

Officials have also reported that recently analyzed evidence, including information obtained during the investigation, has helped narrow certain search areas. While authorities have not released specific details, they say the new information has allowed search teams to focus their efforts more effectively.
According to investigators, the events leading up to the case began on June 4, when Ja’Derrius rode his bicycle to a home on Bradley Street to visit a 16-year-old friend. Authorities allege that after the homeowner, Maurice Robbia Parms, returned with the teenager, an argument occurred between the two. Prosecutors contend that the confrontation later escalated into a fatal incident, though the allegations have not yet been proven in court.
As the investigation continues, officials have urged anyone with information that could ᴀssist in locating Ja’Derrius to come forward. For his family, however, the search is about more than the criminal case—it is about bringing their loved one home and finding the answers they have been waiting for.
While the legal proceedings continue, search teams remain committed to following every credible lead, hoping their efforts will provide long-awaited closure for Ja’Derrius’s family and the Baton Rouge community.
