The child vanished while running a short errand for her mother just over a block from her home.
Her body was discovered five days later in a creek 19 miles away, where investigators determined she had been bo*nd and dr*wned.
While an initial suspect claimed the d*ath was an accident to hide a dr*g operation, DNA evidence found at the scene eventually linked the crime to a local father named Anthony Ray Stockelman.
Stockelman pleaded guilty to m*rder and ch*ld m*lest*tion to avoid the d*ath penalty and received a sentence of life without parole.
While serving his sentence at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, he was confronted by the victim’s cousin, who was also an inmate at the prison.
The cousin as**ulted and trapped Stockelman in a cell and forcibly tattooed the words “KATIE’S REVENGE” across the k*ller’s forehead.
He has tried to remove it, but the scar and name is still visible. A constant reminder for him and other inmates to see each and every day.
