đź’” Houston Mourns the Jackson Family: Eight Lives Honored in Emotional Funeral Service

A Houston community has come together in profound grief following the funeral service for Valerie Jackson, her husband Dwayne Jackson, and their six children, all of whom were killed in a tragic incident that has drawn national attention.

The service, held at Fallbrook Church, brought together relatives, neighbors, faith leaders, and members of the public who had followed the case with shock and sorrow. Eight caskets were carried into the sanctuary, marking one of the most emotionally devastating funerals the city has witnessed in recent years.

The victims included Valerie Jackson, 40; Dwayne Jackson, 50; and their children Nathaniel, 13; Honesty, 11; Dwayne Jr., 10; Caleb, 9; Trinity, 7; and Jonah, 6.

Authorities have charged David Conley III, the former partner of Valerie Jackson and the father of one of the children, with capital murder in connection with the case. Prosecutors allege that he entered the family home on August 8, 2015, and carried out a violent attack that resulted in the deaths of multiple family members.

Court documents state that Conley allegedly gained entry through a window and restrained several victims before fatally shooting them. Investigators believe the children and Dwayne Jackson were killed prior to Valerie Jackson.

Police were alerted after Valerie Jackson reportedly sent distress messages to relatives indicating she was being held at gunpoint. Officers conducted welfare checks before ultimately entering the residence, where they discovered the victims.

Conley was taken into custody later that day following a standoff with law enforcement and has remained in jail without bond as legal proceedings continue. Prosecutors have indicated they may seek the death penalty, depending on the outcome of pretrial motions.

During the funeral service, however, the focus was not on the circumstances of their deaths but on honoring the lives they lived. The program, тιтled “A Tree of Life Celebration,” included pH๏τographs, memories, and tributes shared by family members.

Each child was remembered for their unique personality and spirit—Jonah as affectionate, Trinity as creative and bright, Caleb for his love of sports, Dwayne Jr. for his determination, Honesty for her kindness, and Nathaniel as a thoughtful teenager with a promising future ahead.

Relatives described Valerie and Dwayne Jackson as devoted parents who worked to provide a stable and loving home for their children. Family members from Wisconsin, where they previously lived, traveled to Houston for the service before the planned burial in La Crosse.

Community members also gathered outside the family’s home in the days following the tragedy, leaving flowers and balloons in tribute.

A local funeral home provided services at no cost after learning of the circumstances, reflecting the widespread impact of the loss.

For those in attendance, the funeral was not only a farewell but a moment of shared grief for a family whose absence has left an immeasurable void in both Houston and their former Midwest community. đź’”
