Plot Summary
Invasion of the Mermaids (2025) plunges us into a chilling fantasy-thriller where the mythical meets the modern world in a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly confrontation. When a seismic event reveals an ancient underwater rift in the Pacific, a team of marine researchers led by Dr. Callum Wren (Timothée Chalamet) investigates the mysterious ecosystem that emerges. What they discover is far beyond legend—mermaids, real and intelligent, and not at all the enchanting sirens we imagined.
Led by the enigmatic and ruthless Queen Nerina (Ana de Armas), the mermaids are preparing for a hostile takeover of the surface world, blaming humanity for centuries of oceanic destruction. As entire coastal cities fall under siege by marine forces and otherworldly creatures, Isla (Jenna Ortega), a hybrid caught between two worlds, holds the key to stopping the war—if she can choose where her loyalty truly lies.
A race against time begins as the military, led by the hardened Commander Lorne (Pedro Pascal), and a rogue faction of rebel mermaids, join forces to confront an ancient aquatic empire bent on reclaiming Earth.
