In the chilling horror film Ghost Ship, directed by Steve Beck, a salvage crew boards an abandoned ocean liner, only to find themselves trapped in a haunting nightmare that blurs the line between the living and the ᴅᴇᴀᴅ. The story begins in 1962 aboard the luxurious Italian ocean liner Antonia Graza. During a lavish ballroom party, disaster strikes when a mysterious figure triggers a gruesome wire trap, killing almost everyone on the deck in a single horrifying moment. The ship then vanishes without a trace.
Fast forward to present day, the crew of the Arctic Warrior — a salvage tugboat led by Captain Sean Murphy (Gabriel Byrne) and first mate Maureen Epps (Julianna Margulies) — is approached by a Canadian weather spotter named Jack Ferriman. He claims to have spotted a large vessel adrift in the Bering Sea. Intrigued by the possibility of a valuable salvage, the crew sets out to investigate.
They soon discover the derelict Antonia Graza, still eerily intact but clearly abandoned. As they explore the ghostly halls of the ship, strange phenomena begin to occur. Epps encounters the spirit of a young girl named Katie, who warns her that the ship is not what it seems. Members of the crew begin to suffer violent hallucinations and mysterious accidents. It becomes clear that a malevolent force is at play — a force that feeds on souls.
One by one, the crew is picked off by supernatural powers, until Epps uncovers the shocking truth: the ship is a trap, a collector of souls for an evil purpose. Jack Ferriman, the man who led them there, is revealed to be a demonic spirit tasked with gathering the damned. He orchestrated the entire mission to harvest new souls. In a tense and fiery climax, Epps sets explosives throughout the ship and manages to destroy it, freeing the trapped souls — including young Katie’s. She escapes into the water, barely surviving. But as she is rescued and taken aboard a pᴀssing vessel, she sees familiar crates being loaded by Ferriman, hinting that the cycle of horror may begin again.
