Woman Convicted in Death of 4-Year-Old Athena Miller

A jury has found 49-year-old Terrie Gray guilty of first-degree murder and two counts of cruelty to children in connection with the death of 4-year-old Athena Rose Denise Miller in November 2024.

Prosecutors presented evidence showing that Athena and her younger brother endured prolonged neglect, starvation, and abuse inside the family home. Medical experts testified that Athena suffered multiple serious injuries, including brain trauma, burns, and fractures, before her death.

During the trial, jurors heard testimony from investigators, medical professionals, and child welfare officials who detailed the conditions the children allegedly faced. The evidence played a key role in securing the conviction.

Gray is scheduled to be sentenced on August 25, 2026, and could spend the rest of her life in prison.

Meanwhile, Logan Miller, the children’s father, is expected to face trial in October 2026 on separate charges related to the case.

The case has drawn significant public attention and renewed discussions about child protection, early intervention, and the responsibility of caregivers to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children.

For many, the conviction represents an important step toward accountability while honoring the memory of Athena Miller, whose life ended far too soon.
